Job Summary:
The Culinary Artist is responsible for preparing a variety of cooked foods and ensuring the highest quality of service to customers and associates. This role requires proficiency in multiple cooking stations, including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg Station. The Culinary Artist must effectively communicate ticket times, potential delays, and other kitchen-related concerns to the manager on duty and servers as needed. Additionally, the Cook is expected to maintain cleanliness, follow food safety standards, and contribute to the overall efficiency of kitchen operations. This is a non-exempt position that reports to management.
Essential Functions:
- Carry out the preparation, seasoning, cooking, sampling, carving, and serving of various food dishes like soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts as directed by specific recipes and product guidelines.
- Maintain uniformity and quality by sampling dishes, adhering to standardized menus, and accurately predicting food quantities.
- Keep detailed production records and requisition any required supplies and kitchen tools as needed.
- Uphold outstanding food safety and sanitation standards as mandated by HACCP, including the upkeep of a clean and sanitary workspace.
- Utilize different kitchen equipment and tools, including slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens.
- Accurately scale, blend, wash, peel, dice, and mince elements in meal preps.
- Keep a check on stock levels, sort items according to their expiration dates, and periodically switch the arrangement of food inventory to ensure the maintenance of quality and freshness.
Entry-Level Criteria, Know-How, Skills, and Job Environment:
- A necessary qualification for applicants is previous hands-on experience with food preparation and familiarity with HACCP principles.
- Essential qualifications include a minimum of one year of relevant cooking experience, ideally in a bustling, relaxed dining environment.
- Broad knowledge of various cooking methods, including soup preparation, sautéing, broiling, frying, and overseeing pantry functions.
- Proficiency in interpreting, grasping, and abiding by directives, procedures, and food options, all the while engaging in effective interaction with patrons and colleagues.
- Having the strength to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds, alongside the ability to bend, twist, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Constant contact with hot surroundings, sharp blades, culinary implements, and heated dishes.
- Adhering to hygiene and safety protocols often involves hands being immersed in water or cleaning solutions.
