What you'll do:

• Perform cashiering duties.
• Assist the store by performing related duties that contribute towards the attainment of its sales target.
• The efficient stocking and pricing of merchandise are pivotal to the success of a retail business.
• Follow the predetermined operational guidelines and store policies while strictly observing the recommended procedures.
• Assess guest concerns and, if needed, escalate them to the Guest Experience Leader or the Leader on Duty for assistance.

Key Accountabilities:

• The person in this role must be able to consistently execute all assigned duties and responsibilities, regardless of any accommodations that may be required.
• Keeping live animals healthy and well-cared for requires offering them suitable care according to Petco's established standards, policies, and procedures that involve conducting hourly animal health checks and keeping wellness documentation current.
• Carries out professional and productive communication through both verbal and written means with all professional contacts, centering on the interests of the company.
• Delivers timely and courteous support to Petco patrons, ascertaining their individual requirements and recommending suitable merchandise, while effectively utilizing persuasive sales techniques to increase overall revenue.
• This position requires an individual who possesses extensive knowledge in the field of nutrition, can efficiently navigate Pals Rewards enrollment, comprehends the Welcome to the Family program, and can apply effective suggestive selling to increase sales.
• Ensures that every guest receives an exceptional experience in all Omni-channel initiatives, such as Instacart, Extended Aisle, and Repeat Delivery.
• Carries out various point-of-sale responsibilities such as handling cash, credit and check payments, and managing customer returns.
• Works to ensure that merchandise is presented in a manner that meets established criteria and expectations.
• Handles cash register transactions and offers guest carry-out services for items weighing up to and including 50 pounds per trip.
• Complies with the loss prevention policies established by the business.
• Plays a role in maintaining a fully stocked store by assisting in the movement of merchandise utilizing standardized procedures.
• Ensures that the animals, birds, reptiles, and fish in the store are given the best possible care and that their habitats are clean, safe, and secured. Furthermore, attends to their health needs ensuring that they are healthy at all times.
• If any animal, reptile, bird or fish requires medical attention or special care, store leaders are promptly notified.
• Helps maintain the store's polished image by fulfilling regular housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and mopping the floors, dusting merchandise shelves, washing windows, and keeping restrooms clean and presentable.
• Acts as a valuable assistant to store leadership in completing all essential paperwork with complete accuracy during opening and closing hours.
• Contributes to achieving accurate inventory records by taking part in quarterly and annual physical counts.
• Emphasizes the significance of safety protocols, implementing and reinforcing healthy practices with the intention of creating a secure, healthy environment for store partners, guests, and animal companions.
• Undertakes particular projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment:

Being able to operate equipment designed to handle materials weighing up to 2000 pounds is necessary, as is being able to carry up to 50 pounds.
