What You'll Do
Responsible for ensuring that the aquatics, reptile, bird, and small companion animal departments are running effectively and contributing to sales growth.
- Entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the safety and care of all live creatures and commodities in the unit.
- In charge of achieving the Companion Animal division's predetermined sales figures, focusing on maximizing the gross margin, minimizing animal and product shrinkage, and managing inventory levels, supply costs, and expected budgeted expenses.
Key Accountabilities
- Guarantee the implementation of protocols that align with animal welfare guidelines, such as hourly animal checks and maintaining wellness cards to track their health status. Observe the Vet Protocol in attending to the medical needs of sick animals.
- Direct supervision of the Aquatics Specialist(s) falls under the responsibility of the supervisor who encourages and supports the team members to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve the sales targets.
- Daily processing of the entire supply back stock is crucial, and for all other units, it is important to complete the back stock a minimum of three times weekly.
- The employee must arrange live animals in a manner that boosts sales, improves margins, and maintains suitable inventory levels.
- Maintaining the OSE requirements is an essential part of the department's responsibilities.
- Foster an upbeat and courteous atmosphere by setting an example with friendly and professional interactions with all customers.
- Every aspect of aquatics demands a certain level of professionalism, including presentation and appearance.
- Appropriate departmental scheduling in accordance with in-stock goals and guest service during peak hours is facilitated through the collaboration between the department and SL/GEL.
- Join forces with the Inventory Leader to ensure adequate inventory amounts. Meet objectives by evaluating maximum changes or requested overrides that meet the I.M. grade standard.
- Competently market the clearance merchandise to potentially increase sales while maintaining existing customers.
- Work with the SL/GEL to plan out the necessary location changes required to optimize the grid and ad planner for maximum sales potential.
- Carries out all functions related to point-of-sale service, including managing cash sales, credit and check transactions, returns, and exchanges. Performs consistent cash drawer audits to ensure accuracy.
- Executes guest transactions using the cash register and aids guests with carrying items that weigh no more than 50 pounds per trip.
- Providing regular updates to the SL/GEL on conditions like customer complaints, inadequate inventory levels, and item requests is crucial for the smooth running of the store.
- Thorough and systematic documentation and handling procedures protect the adoptable animals, the adoption institutions, and the general public.
- Ensure that all Planograms, Cut-Ins, and Reworks are accomplished promptly and with precision.
- Take on the position of LOD as required and perform the necessary duties with diligence and dedication.
- Perform any extraordinary or diverse tasks instructed.
LOD Key Accountabilities
- Apply the GUEST Model to guarantee timely and respectful service to every customer at all areas of the store.
- High OSE standards not only promote efficient store operations but also uphold the brand's reputation.
- Stick to the established processes when opening or closing the store.
- Train store partners on GUEST and product knowledge to enhance their confidence in dealing with customers.
- To ensure successful store scheduling and timely guest service during high traffic periods, collaboration amongst the Store Leader and GEL is important.
- The upholding and propagation of established safety procedures must be emphasized.
- Conduct regular audits of the grid and ad planner to ensure that all products are in their appropriate locations and that the placement is optimized for sales.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Managers must directly supervise their Aquatics partners to ensure quality work.

The essential duties of this role are carried out indoors, with occasional instances requiring that the employee steps out to assist customers with their purchases.
