Job Summary:

The Cook's main duty is to prepare a range of cooked dishes and uphold a high level of service for customers and associates. This role necessitates expertise in multiple cooking stations, including frying, griddling, pantry tasks, and egg preparation. Clear communication of ticket times, potential delays, and any kitchen-related matters to the manager and servers is important for the Cook. Furthermore, maintaining cleanliness, following food safety standards, and assisting in the overall efficiency of kitchen operations are all part of the Cook's role. This is a non-exempt position that reports to management.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare, season, cook, sample, slice, and present an assortment of food items including soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts, by following detailed recipes and product directions.
• Ensure consistency and excellence by sampling food, sticking to standardized menus, and accurately estimating food requirements.
• Record detailed information about production activities and obtain essential supplies and kitchen equipment as necessary.
• Follow strict food safety and sanitation protocols as per HACCP guidelines, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the work environment.
• Use an assortment of kitchen machinery and utensils such as slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens.
• Adhere to correct guidelines for determining, combining, washing, peeling, cutting, and grating ingredients during meal prepping.
• Manage inventory quantities, organize goods by expiry dates, and consistently adjust the positioning of food supplies to safeguard their quality and freshness.

Primary Qualifications, Acquired Knowledge, Proficiencies, and Work Environment:

• Candidates should have prior exposure to food preparation tasks and be well-versed in HACCP guidelines.
• Prospective candidates should have a minimum of one year of closely related cooking experience, with a preference for those who have worked in a high-traffic, casual dining establishment.
• In-depth understanding of different culinary techniques, such as making soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and handling pantry operations.
• Competency in understanding, following, and executing instructions, regulations, and menu choices, in conjunction with fostering clear communication with both clients and fellow workers.
• Proficient in lifting and relocating items weighing up to 40 pounds, as well as being able to bend, twist, and stand for prolonged periods.
• Daily exposure to warm atmospheres, sharp knives, kitchen tools, and hot dishes.
• To maintain hygiene and safety standards, hands are often soaked in water or cleaning substances.
