Job Summary:
The Banquet Culinary Specialist is in charge of cooking various dishes and providing top-quality service to customers and team members. Proficiency in handling multiple cooking stations, including frying, griddling, pantry work, and egg preparation, is essential for this role. Effective communication of order times, potential delays, and other kitchen-related matters to the manager and servers as necessary is a key aspect of the Banquet Culinary Specialist responsibilities. Moreover, maintaining cleanliness, adhering to food safety standards, and enhancing the efficiency of kitchen operations are all vital components of the Cook's duties. This position is classified as non-exempt and involves reporting to management.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare a variety of dishes like soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts by following precise instructions and recipes for seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving.
- Uphold consistency and excellence by tasting dishes, following standardized menus, and estimating food requirements accurately.
- Document detailed production records and request necessary supplies and kitchen tools as required.
- Abide by stringent food safety and sanitation practices in accordance with HACCP standards, which entail keeping the work environment clean and sanitized.
- Engage in operating assorted kitchen equipment and tools such as slicers, mixers, grills, fryers, and ovens.
- Accurately calibrate, blend, cleanse, peel, chop, and shred ingredients as a component of meal prepping.
- Supervise inventory levels, sort products by their expiration dates, and regularly change their placement to uphold the quality and freshness of the food.
Fundamental Standards, Familiarity, Capabilities, and Workplace Environment:
- An essential requirement for this role is past experience in food prep and awareness of HACCP protocols.
- The ideal candidate will have at least one year of closely related cooking experience, ideally in a bustling, informal eatery.
- Comprehensive expertise in diverse cooking techniques, covering soups, sautéing, broiling, frying, and pantry responsibilities.
- Competence in interpreting, grasping, and abiding by instructions, rules, and menu offerings, all the while communicating adeptly with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to move objects weighing up to 40 pounds and perform tasks that involve bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods.
- Consistent exposure to hot atmospheres, sharp knives, cooking utensils, and heated plates.
- It is a routine occurrence for hands to be submerged in water or cleaning products to maintain proper hygiene and safety protocols.
